Penta failed to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Title during a recent episode of WWE RAW in Mexico City, where he lost to Roman Reigns.
Since his defeat, there has been speculation about whether Penta should’ve won given his popularity and the show’s setting.
Speaking to Forbes, Samuray Del Sol, formerly Kalisto in WWE, argued that WWE missed the chance to have a perfect moment for Penta. He said,
“Everybody thought [Penta should have won.] Penta should have won. It should have been his moment. I think that was a perfect time and place, but things happen for a reason.
Maybe he can be on a bigger stage that’s even better for Penta and for everybody around the world. Yes, maybe that should have been his day and moment, but maybe there’s a bigger picture. We don’t know.”
Despite this loss, the match has reportedly elevated Penta’s standing in WWE, with many within the company being blown away by his performance.
Penta has since qualified for the 2026 Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, with many calling him the favorite to grab the coveted briefcase.
