Tokyo Sports is reporting that NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 will be broadcast by TV Asahi on January 4, 2026. This will be the first time this special has been shown on Japanese television since 2004.

The event will feature Hiroshi Tanahashi’s final match and the debut of Olympic gold medalist Aaron Wolf.

The specific time for this special broadcast has yet to be announced. TV Asahi previously aired an edited version of Wrestle Kingdom. The show is also expected to air live on New Japan World.

The 2004 Wrestle Kingdom event, originally titled Wrestling World, was presented in a two-hour segment beginning at 11:25 PM.

In his book Eggshells: Pro Wrestling in the Tokyo Dome, Chris Charlton mentioned that the special drew a 6.4 rating. The event was headlined by Shinsuke Nakamura and Yoshihiro Takayama.
