AEW President Tony Khan was “encouraged” to take shots at WWE President Nick Khan by members of New Japan Pro Wrestling.
On the May 28, 2021 Dynamite, Tony Khan called out Nick Khan, saying there was a place for only one “Khan” in the wrestling business.
Many saw this as a response to reports of WWE attempting to strike a deal with NJPW which would see the Japanese promotion work exclusively with WWE.
According to Sports Illustrated, which recently detailed AEW and NJPW’s recent business agreement, officials from the Japanese company encouraged Khan to cut a promo on Nick Khan.
AEW/NJPW: Forbidden Door will air on June 26 in Chicago, Illinois.
