During Sunday night’s AEW Double Or Nothing 2024 pay-per-view event, Mercedes Mone defeated Willow Nightingale in her debut match to win the AEW TBS Championship.
Mone executed the Mone Maker to secure a victory over Nightingale, following an escape from a gutwrench powerbomb.
Notably, Nightingale had almost secured a pinfall moments earlier, but the referee’s attention was inadvertently diverted by Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway.
Following the match, Statlander confronted Hathaway and initially assisted Nightingale before ultimately turning on Willow and incapacitating her.
The match marked Mone’s return to competition following an injury sustained at NJPW Resurgence 2023 in a bout against Nightingale to determine the inaugural Strong Women’s Champion.
Additionally, this victory represents Mone’s first title reign in AEW, bringing an end to Nightingale’s 36-day championship run that began with a win over Julia Hart at AEW Dynasty 2024.
