Former three-time AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman made his return to AEW television on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, and he already has one very specific demand when it comes to his latest self-proclaimed nickname.
MJF competed in a Triple Threat Match against Nick Wayne and Mike Bailey, with the winner earning the No. 2 position in the Casino Gauntlet at AEW All In: London 2026. MJF ultimately picked up the victory, securing his spot in the match.
Before the bout, MJF got physical with ring announcer Justin Roberts and demanded that Roberts introduce him as the “one true champion.”
Following the match, Twitter user Drainmaker referred to MJF as the “OTC of pro wrestling,” writing,
“ONE. TRUE. CHAMPION. THE OTC OF PRO WRESTLING. 🔥”
MJF quickly responded, making it clear that he does not want his nickname shortened to an acronym. He wrote,
“Never acronym the one true champion.”
The comment is particularly notable given that “OTC” has already become closely associated with WWE Superstar Roman Reigns, who has been referred to as the “Original Tribal Chief” and “OTC.”
MJF, meanwhile, wants the “One True Champion” nickname to remain exactly that — without an acronym attached to it.
