Mick Foley’s Charity Auction Chaos After Winning Bidders Flee Without Paying

AEW broadcaster Mick Foley was the victim of theft in Birmingham, England, when items auctioned by the wrestling legend were stolen.

On social media, Foley shared that, at the end of a show, he auctioned off the shirts off his back to help raise funds for the Cauliflower Alley Club.

The winning bid was for £900 ($1217 USD), and Mick was thrilled to meet the generous bidders, take photos with them, and sign the shirts. 

Upon receiving the shirts, the winning bidders ran away without paying, leaving Foley and his attempt to raise money for others out of pocket. 

“Took photos with these guys, thanked them thoroughly, signed both the t-shirt I was wearing and the outer shirt, and then they ran. They ran. They did a runner. Took off without paying.”

Other fans in attendance stepped forward to give their own money and collectively raised $600 to the Cauliflower Alley Club. 

While Mick was incredibly thankful for this support, before sharing a message to the thieves. He said, 

“You know who you are. We know who you are and we’re going to give you a couple of days to do the right thing. At the very least, you return the shirt. It would be really nice if you made a donation. I don’t expect £900; that’s a lot of money.

“Maybe you guys shouldn’t do that when you’re drinking. Maybe you shouldn’t make promises you can’t keep but if you don’t do something, some small way of atoning, not only will you know who you are and not only will I know who you are, but a lot of people will know who you are because there were cameras everywhere.”

The Cauliflower Alley Club helps raise funds for wrestlers who need support, often for medical costs due to issues caused by their lives in the ring. 

Foley is signed to AEW and is in the UK as part of the promotion’s build to this weekend’s All In: London pay-per-view event.
