Mariah May—or whatever WWE ends up calling her—has officially arrived in World Wrestling Entertainment after making her surprise debut appearance on this week’s episode of WWE NXT.
The new women’s champion, Jacy Jayne, was in the ring with Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx to cut a promo about Fatal Influence being on top like they should be, and how everyone was shocked when she won the NXT Women’s Championship from Stephanie Vaquer last week.
Lainey Reid showed up from the crowd to talk about how she was going to wait her turn for a title shot, but since Jayne is the most beatable champion, she figured she’d just interrupt right then and there.
This sparked a series of other women coming out to do the same “I should be the first to challenge Jayne for the title” bit: Lola Vice, Jordynne Grace, Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, and Lash Legend. Thea Hail then jumped Parker from behind and started a brawl, while Reid was standing on the apron watching.
Suddenly, the lights went out, and when they came back on, Mariah May was standing on the crow’s nest observation platform. She cut a quick promo about how the best women’s division in wrestling right now just got a whole lot more glamorous.
Notably, the commentators went out of their way to not say her name in any fashion, similar to what happened with Ricky Starks showing up and only being referred to as “you know who he is” and such. This almost guarantees that Mariah May will undergo some sort of name change and next week or so, will be referred to as some other random name, once they settle on a new trademark.
