Lyra Valkyria Shares The Origins Of Her Name, Being A ‘Bird Lady’

On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Lyra Valkyria shared the origins of her name, which is based on the mythological Valkyrie. She said,

“It was related to the Valkyrie. So it’s still tied to my book and my favorite stuff, and I love mythology. So yeah, that’s where it all comes from.”

Despite the name’s meaning, Valkyria has been named ‘Bird Lady’ by fans, a nickname the RAW Superstar isn’t shying away from. She said,

“All this deep meaning behind it and everyone’s just like, ‘Ah, bird’... If people like it, they can call me bird lady. I think it’s fine. I think—I think it’s the idea if they remember you, you’re doing something right. Bird ladies are cool, right?”

Valkyria is the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion, after defeating Dakota Kai in the finals of a tournament earlier this year.

Lyra’s most recent title defense saw the ‘Bird Lady’ retain against Becky Lynch at the WWE Backlash: St. Louis pay-per-view event.
