Ludwig Kaiser’s ongoing battery case has taken a new turn, with both sides now preparing for a hearing later this month that could determine whether the WWE star faces further legal trouble.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a “notice of appearance” was filed on Thursday, October 8, by Richard Reap’s attorney, Bruce A. Mount Jr.

Mount is a personal injury attorney working for the same law firm, NeJame Law in Orlando, that Reap’s previously listed attorney worked for. Maintaining his own counsel is seen as a possible sign that Reap may consider filing a civil suit against Kaiser once the criminal case is settled.

Kaiser is facing a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an incident in late April 2026. According to the plaintiff, Kaiser physically assaulted him in the elevator of his Orlando apartment complex after Reap took exception to Kaiser making out “aggressively” with his female partner.

However, Kaiser’s version of events differs sharply. According to the WWE superstar, Reap abused his partner and threatened to call ICE on her after being offended by the couple hugging in the elevator.

A motion seeking dismissal of the case was filed on July 15, and a hearing is now scheduled for Monday, October 19.

The case remains unresolved, and neither the criminal charge nor the potential civil suit has been decided. Kaiser has continued to appear on WWE programming as El Grande Americano, while the legal process plays out.
