Liv Morgan Catches A Stray From A Top WWE NXT Champion

Liv Morgan recently found herself on the receiving end of a subtle shot from one of WWE NXT’s top champions.

Morgan won the Women’s Royal Rumble earlier this year before defeating Stephanie Vaquer at WrestleMania 42 to capture the Women’s World Championship for the third time. However, her reign quickly drew criticism from fans after she went 106 days without defending the title. Morgan, for her part, appeared completely comfortable with the situation and even embraced the lengthy reign.

Morgan eventually put the championship on the line at SummerSlam, where she successfully defended it against 2026 Queen of the Ring Iyo Sky. Since then, however, the title has once again gone without a defense.

That could soon change. Vaquer recently returned and reignited her rivalry with Morgan, while Becky Lynch also resurfaced and made it clear that she intends to reclaim her status as “The Man” in the RAW women’s division.

It appears someone in NXT has been paying close attention.

During this week’s episode of WWE NXT, the NXT: Heatwave Summit featured champions and challengers from both divisions. NXT Women’s Champion and NXT Women’s Speed Champion Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair were among the first to address the WWE Universe and discuss their respective rivalries.

Grey emphasized that she considers herself a fighting champion, despite dealing with setbacks and injuries throughout her reign. The 25-year-old then took aim at champions who are content with going long stretches without defending their titles, seemingly referencing Morgan’s 106-day drought. She said,

“Hell, there’s people in this company that go hundreds of days without defending their title, but that’s not me, that’s not the champion that I am.”

Morgan has yet to respond to Grey’s comments. Given the apparent reference to her lengthy period without a title defense, however, it will be interesting to see whether the Women’s World Champion fires back at the NXT titleholder.
