It’s been over eight years since Wade Barrett last competed in a WWE ring, but JBL believes a return will come for the former Nexus leader.
On a recent edition of the “Huge Pop” podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer shared his belief that Barrett will wrestle again. He said,
“He’s still young. He was a good worker. Yeah, I think he probably will. If I were him, do it. You have all of your life to do commentary. You don’t have all your life to get into the ring. If I’m him, if you still have the urge, just try it. If it doesn’t work out, so what, go back to commentary. If it does, you’ve got something, and then go back to commentary.”
Barrett currently serves as a commentator on WWE Monday Night RAW and has previously called the action on SmackDown and WWE NXT.
JBL knows all about in-ring returns, as he returned to the ring in 2008 after spending over a year and a half as a commentator on SmackDown.
Barrett has said he is interested in an in-ring comeback against Drew McIntyre. He is a five-time Intercontinental Champion and former King of the Ring.
