Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
Baron Corbin is back on the WWE roster after returning on last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown to attack both Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, obviously setting his sights on the United States Championship.
My question for you today is “How would you book Baron Corbin on the roster going forward now that he’s back in WWE?”

As far as my answer…
I’ve always been a fan of Baron Corbin, dating back to his NXT run where the crowd would count along to see how quickly he would dispatch his opponents and the matches would end in something like 20 seconds. Even though I can fully admit that he had some rough patches, I always thought he was making the best out of a bad situation and doing what he could with some pretty wretched material and it wasn’t his fault.
In my eyes, he’s one of those guys who could have won a world title and I wouldn’t have batted an eye at it, let alone been the type to make a stink. I’m glad Corbin is back. I never wanted him to leave in the first place.
So for me, this is a good thing. Naturally, your mileage may vary. I’m sure there are some out there saying they’d book him to be a jobber and then fire him. While I’m not going to go so far as to say I’d give him the world title, I’m certainly not going to be anywhere close to any negatives.
The way I see it, Corbin is in a spot right now where I can’t justify making him one of the top top top guys, but I see no reason why WWE can’t have him as a fixture in the upper-midcard scene. In a sense, going after the US title is exactly where he should be. Good call. It gives an established veteran who is fresh on the roster and hasn’t feuded with quite a bit of these guys as a new tool to work with.
He can feud with Royce Keys, Ricky Saints, even CM Punk and Cody Rhodes…I’m down to see what he’s able to do with anyone, for the most part. Bron Breakker would be an interesting one, too, considering their history together as The Wolf Dogs. I’d like to see his more comedic side opposite Joe Hendry as well, a match against Oba Femi, you name it.
Eventually, once he’s lost enough singles feuds where it’s time to spin the dial in the opposite direction and give him some more solid wins, I’d put him in a tag team. Off the top of my head, Grayson Waller could maybe work, but my ideal pick would be Josh Briggs, who has been M.I.A. for quite some time and could stand next to him as a fellow skyscraper type, would match aesthetics, and could maybe be a great learning vessel for Briggs to develop better character work.
