Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

Unfortunately, Liv Morgan dislocated her shoulder on last night’s Raw, which could see her out of action for 16 weeks or longer, depending on the severity. Even if it isn’t all that bad, it’s bound to keep her out of the ring long enough that everything she was just set up for will be pushed aside.

That means no rematch against Iyo Sky for the Women’s World Championship, nor a match against Nikki Bella at Evolution.

It always sucks when someone gets injured, so this is no different, but it is especially a downer when that Superstar now misses out on opportunities and creative plans have to go out the window with them. WWE will be forced to pivot and change up their ideas, as this was obviously not something accounted for.

My question for you today is “How do you think WWE should turn this around for these stories that were supposed to involve Liv Morgan?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

I think I have the perfect answer for this, in one of those “it’s so simple that it feels obvious” ideas: Roxanne Perez is swapped in.

Realistically—and I say this with no intention to be “mean”, but just honest—the rematch against Iyo Sky wouldn’t have mattered. WWE is clearly just killing time with Iyo right now. She’s done virtually nothing in weeks, they haven’t bothered to set up a No. 1 contender, nor announced any challengers for her other than the potential of the Queen of the Ring tournament fighting her at SummerSlam. Effectively, once she got past WrestleMania, even, she’s been coasting on Raw, not booked for the premium live events, and just dawdling.

The likelihood they had anything major set up for Morgan against Sky is extremely slim. It probably would have just been those two in a match that ends with some interference and distraction, Sky retains the title, Morgan is fuming over Nikki Bella or whoever costing her the match, and they all move on.

That means if we’re in a 4 month stretch of “I don’t know what Iyo does. Hopefully, nobody really notices and we can just go from WrestleMania to SummerSlam without doing anything”, getting rid of that match with Morgan doesn’t change anything. Ideally, WWE wouldn’t be in this mess, but that can be said about a lot of things going on in the company. At least now, they’ll have an excuse to try to paint themselves in a better light when fans call out criticism, and they’ll pretend like they had all these ideas that they had to change up, hoping again that nobody notices Sky’s done nothing with the title since mid-April.

But the Nikki Bella thing is definitely a bigger deal. The Bella Twins were likely planned to fight Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the tag team titles at Evolution. It’s not confirmed, but it’s doubtful this was all supposed to lead into Nikki versus Liv in singles action.

So just have Roxanne Perez fill in for Liv. Even if Perez were to win the Queen of the Ring tournament (which I doubt will happen), she would still have nothing to do up until August, so she’s more than free to work this July 13th event. Even more so if she loses the tournament.

Perez is already in The Judgment Day, essentially. She’s been trying to take over Morgan’s spot. With Morgan unable to compete, we can get another situation like Jade Cargill being replaced by Naomi, who took over as Bianca Belair’s tag team champion partner. Perez does the same after Perez and/or Raquel Rodriguez and/or Dominik Mysterio and/or Finn Balor asks Adam Pearce for the same idea. Perez inherits Morgan’s title, and Morgan is either on screen seething over this and has to grit her teeth and pretend like this is the best thing for The Judgment Day to keep the titles within the clubhouse, or she’s off-screen and the implication is that she’ll be pissed off when she returns.

In the meantime, you have two options for Evolution: either Perez and Rodriguez work together well enough that they retain and start becoming friends out of this to even more upset Morgan, or Rodriguez doesn’t have the chemistry with Perez that she does with Morgan, leading to them dropping the titles.

That depends greatly on whether or not The Bella Twins were scheduled to win the belts in the first place, or if they were just going to have a one-off, challenge, fail, and disappear again.

If WWE can convince them to stick around, the smart play is to put the belts on them. That crosses off something for the history books and sets up at least one more match some fans would be interested in seeing, with The Bella Twins against whoever they drop the belts to. Asuka and Kairi Sane? The Dungeon Dolls? Stephanie Vaquer and someone? The Secret Hervice?

But if Perez and Rodriguez retain, then we just see more of Perez ingratiating herself into the group and becoming a more powerful influence within The Judgment Day. It’s the same story, just on a different path than what was originally planned.

Alternatively, if WWE doesn’t want Perez and Rodriguez to team together, then they’ll need to figure out something else for The Bella Twins to do. They still should fight for the tag titles, and it should be some rushed situation where Morgan and Rodriguez are forced to relinquish the belts, and new No. 1 contenders need to be determined for who fights Nikki and Brie. However, I’m not as big of a fan of that, as I don’t think there’s a strong enough backup option to face The Bella Twins that would make more sense than Perez and Rodriguez.

Just swap in Roxanne. The rest of the puzzle pieces will be sorted out naturally.
