Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 11th for WWE Survivor Series 2025, taking place at Petco Park in San Diego on Saturday, November 29th. All the imagery for these posters and all the press material confirms that for the fourth year in a row, there will be both a men’s and a women’s WarGames match.
This is clearly Triple H’s preference for Survivor Series, despite how it means no actual Survivor Series matches, and how this is the exact same problem they had before with Hell in a Cell and TLC where making this a set time of the calendar year and doing it every year has devalued the gimmick. But hey, instead of learning from the mistakes of your predecessor, you’re apparently supposed to make the same mistakes and only then will it count.
Regardless, this means WWE already has some plans in mind—however fluid they might be—for how they want to approach this. I have no doubt they’ve got something penciled in with the idea that they could and likely will shift aspects of it when they get closer. For instance, I do not think Bronson Reed was the original plan to be on Solo Sikoa’s team for last year, and I’m sure an injury or some other storyline diversions will influence this.
But let’s say screw that sensibility and try to predict things 150 days in advance!
My question for you today is “Who do you think will make up the four WarGames teams this year?”
Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.
As far as my answer…
The men’s match is INFINITELY easier to predict. They always put more effort into that, and we already have two stables to potentially build around.
Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed is one group, while Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo, Tala Tonga, Tonga Loa, and we can assume Tama Tonga upon his return (if he’s ready by then) could be the other option. Obviously, if it’s Paul Heyman’s crew, they’d need two more people, but that hasn’t stopped WWE from just inserting random people in there. Again, look at Bronson Reed last time.
In fact, they could very well make the heel group Rollins, Breakker, Reed, Sikoa, and Mateo or one of the Tongas. But I’ll say that if Sikoa’s contingent is not part of this, the other two heels who will team up with Heyman’s crew will be Drew McIntyre and the possibility that someone like Ricky Saints or Ethan Page could be called up and join the crew by then. If not, then I think that fifth spot is entirely blank right now and WWE knows they can just throw in Gunther or Logan Paul or Rusev and “whatever”
For the babyfaces, I think we can obviously check off Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, CM Punk, and by this point, John Cena will be a face as well. But some other allies to factor in as options (if you’d want Cena to be wrestling elsewhere for instance) would be Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, LA Knight, Jacob Fatu, Damian Priest, Penta, R-Truth, and Jimmy Uso. It’s not going to be another faction. They’ve proven one team is always “a collection of random heels/faces” and that’s it.
For the women, I don’t even think they’ll have remotely close to a group to build around. I expect this to just be an assortment of the biggest names they can throw in the match.
For heels, I think Naomi and Nia Jax are guarantees. Giulia is likely another one. Throw in Becky Lynch. Liv Morgan would’ve been, but she’s not going to be healed up by then I bet. Roxanne Perez rounds out the team, or if not, Chelsea Green?
Babyfaces, you’ve got Rhea Ripley who will absolutely hold down the fort. She’ll have some backup in Iyo Sky, who will do the same trash can moonsault she always does. Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill offset Naomi and Nia Jax. Then, I guess Stephanie Vaquer or Tiffany Stratton would be the priority pick, with a few backups in Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, and Asuka. Obviously, whoever holds a championship and whoever is challenging around that time would be swapped in and out. In fact, I’m going to say Stratton and Green will be in the Women’s United States Championship scene instead, just for the hell of it. We’ll see how wrong I am in 4 months.
Ultimately, my prediction comes down to this:
- Men’s WarGames Match: [Heel Team] Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Drew McIntyre, and *Insert 5th Heel Who Is Available* vs. [Babyface Team] Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, CM Punk and Roman Reigns — with John Cena wrestling elsewhere on the card like challenging Gunther or something.
- Women’s WarGames Match: [Heel Team] Naomi, Nia Jax, Giulia, Becky Lynch and Roxanne Perez vs. [Babyface Team] Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky and Stephanie Vaquer
