FTR Signed Over All Of Their Trademarks To WWE To Be Granted Release

AEW’s FTR had to sign over all their trademarks to WWE in order to be granted an early release by the company.

FTR, formerly The Revival, were released from WWE in April 2020, two months earlier than their contracts were set to expire.

Speaking to Renee Paquette on ‘The Sessions,’ the team spoke candidly about their last few months with WWE, and Dax Harwood said an agreement had to be made to leave early:

“They were going to extend your [Cash Wheeler’s] contract because of your injury until August, but the out is, all these trademarks you have, sign them over to us and we will let you have your release, no 90 days, and we’ll give it to you today.’ We spent like $10-20,000 on trademarks. Stuff that we came up with, not them, but we wanted out so bad and were unhappy, just let them have it. It’s just money. We called back and said, ‘you can have all the trademarks, just please give us our release,’ and they did.”

Before being released, Vince McMahon had pitched for the two to be re-designed, with images leaked of the two wearing lipstick, brightly colored tassels and carrying glow sticks.

FTR joined AEW in May 2020 and in addition to being the reigning AAA World Tag Team Champions have previously held the AEW World Tag Team Titles.
