Fan Backlash After Tiffany Stratton Moves Forward In Interim Women’s Champion Chase

Tiffany Stratton beat Jacy Jayne during the latest WWE SmackDown, getting one step closer to being crowned the interim Women’s Champion.

Stratton will now be one of the entrants in a ladder match at SummerSlam, where the winner will be the interim WWE Women’s Champion.

On social media, many fans were angry at the result, arguing that it would’ve been better for Jayne to get the victory and spot at SummerSlam instead.

Fans pointed out how Stratton is already the Women’s U.S. Champion, and, unlike Jayne, has already held the WWE Women’s Championship.

SmackDown also saw Jade Cargill advance to the ladder match, earning a victory over fellow former Women’s Champion Nia Jax.

The decision to crown an interim champion was made as the lineal Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is injured with no sign of a return date.

While WWE has, in the past, stripped injured champions of their gold, including as recently as last year with Seth Rollins, WWE has gone a different route with Ripley.
