Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.
So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!
1) Bray Wyatt is back. Who would you like to see him feud with going forward?
Please don’t just rehash all the stuff we’ve seen before. I don’t care whatsoever about making sense of Lilly the puppet with Alexa Bliss (who I think should drop the doll and stop doing that act entirely; I like her better when she’s not Discount Harley Quinn). We don’t need another Wyatt vs. Randy Orton match. All the stuff from before should be tossed aside, in a sense. No more Firefly Fun House or Fiend. Have him wrestle as Bray Wyatt with some new tweaks and some new feuds.
Depending on if he’s a heel or babyface, there are a few options. The Judgment Day, Dexter Lumis, Johnny Gargano, Cody Rhodes when he’s healthy (hopefully a world title feud), Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre, Karrion Kross and Sami Zayn are all interesting feuds I’d like to see that don’t just act as reruns like Wyatt against Roman Reigns or Braun Strowman.
2) D-Generation X is reuniting on Monday Night Raw, but will have to do so without Billy Gunn. Would you rather see them address his absence somehow, or try not to call attention to it?
They have to call attention to it and play around with the idea. Just like they joked about Billy during the Hall of Fame induction, I want to see them take some shots that are playful, rather than mean-spirited. This shouldn’t be a boohoo about AEW, but more of a way to crack up the audience and steer them away from chanting “scissor me, Daddy Ass” to hijack the segment.
I’d also try to do something with DX having a confrontation with The Bloodline to transfer some of that segment’s heat, but that’s unrelated.
3) If you were in Tony Khan’s shoes, how would you handle this Andrade El Idolo vs Sammy Guevara situation?
Far too much bad publicity has been coming out of AEW recently. Someone needs to crack the whip and stop this insubordination, even if it means being the bad guy among people you want to be buds with.
If the reports that are going around are true that Andrade started the fight and Sammy was just kind of an instigator in a sense, I would give Sammy a stern talking to and remind him that he’s on thin ice for perpetually having this stuff surround him. If I’m able to, depending on his contract, I would fine Andrade and get rid of him by releasing him from his contract not only without not paying him the rest of it, but by fining him some money. Assuming that’s not within the legal rights of the contract, I would either just outright release him and be done with it or pay him to sit this out. Whatever he wants to happen, I would try to avoid, but within the path of least resistance that didn’t prioritize spite out of the company’s growth.
The overall goal would be that if Andrade is doing this stuff, he shouldn’t be there, but I’d rather avoid awarding him money to sit and do nothing or to set a precedent that if you want out of your contract, you can get what you want by acting up.
I would have no patience to just work it all out and have him continue to be on the roster. You don’t need that toxic attitude backstage, particularly for someone who’s been booked poorly and wouldn’t make or break your ratings.
4) Do you think Seth Rollins will beat Bobby Lashley on Raw to win the United States Championship?
I’m on the fence. This feels so out of nowhere, which makes me think there must be a reason for it. I had thought there could be something with Daniel Cormier or Bray Wyatt that would lead to either of them against Rollins, Matt Riddle, Bobby Lashley or Brock Lesnar, but nothing happened at Extreme Rules to indicate that. If Rollins were to just win the title, who’s he fighting going forward? As far as I’m aware, DC isn’t advertised to appear on Raw to follow up on that, either.
If Lashley wins, they’ll just have him beat Rollins “because”? It’s the season premiere of Raw, too, so I anticipate a title change just to get people talking. But then, why is Rollins the one they’re going for instead of having Lashley lose the title to anyone else in particular?
At this moment, I’m going with yes, Rollins will win the title, but I’m not confident in that answer whatsoever.
5) Ronda Rousey is back on top of SmackDown as women’s champion. We all know she’s probably facing Becky Lynch at WrestleMania. But if that didn’t happen, for some reason, what would be your alternative plan?
I don’t even care to see Rousey vs Lynch a second time, to be honest. I’d rather them go in another direction. We’ve seen it before and it has significantly less momentum behind it than the last time, so a rerun is just weaker.
I’d rather Rousey drop the title to Charlotte Flair, who would then lose the belt to Raquel Rodriguez. While that bypasses Flair vs. Bianca Belair, I think Belair could have a match with Rhea Ripley that I would enjoy just as much, if not more, and WWE could spend the next few months building Ripley up for that role.
