Eric Bischoff – ‘Tony Khan Is Keeping Rey Fenix Like A Prisoner’

Rey Fenix is being kept like a prisoner in AEW under the thumb of warden Tony Khan, at least as far as Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff is concerned.

It has been reported that Khan has added injury time to Fenix’s contract, which has prevented him from leaving AEW alongside Penta El Zero Miedo.

This injury time has been added despite AEW having no plans for Fenix, who hasn’t competed for the promotion since July 2024.

On a recent edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Bischoff used a prison-based analogy when discussing Fenix’s situation. He said,

“Poor Fenix. He’s in ‘Khan-tonomo Bay.’ He’s in prison. Can’t go anywhere. Every time he tries, he’s gonna get his hand slapped. The fact that he had to take down his tweets tells me everything that I need to know. He’s got exposure. This is gonna be a legal situation. It clearly is already, which means it’s only gonna get uglier.”

Fenix has fired off several tweets in recent days, suggesting mistreatment, including being ignored when he needed a doctor.

In another tweet, Fenix shared that “No one stays in a place where they received inhumane treatment” which many took as a nod to AEW.

On this week’s episode of WWE RAW, a Zero-themed vignette aired with fans speculating it will mark the debut of Penta in the near future.
