Eddie Kingston is ready to get back in the ring after a recent health scare forced him out of action.
Kingston was pulled from the August 22 episode of AEW Collision after it was announced the previous day that he had not been medically cleared to compete. He had been scheduled to take on Claudio Castagnoli in the Continental Cup Challenge tournament.
Fortunately, Kingston says he has since been evaluated, cleared to compete, and is feeling significantly better. He is scheduled to return to the ring for CMLL on Friday.
During a CMLL media call, Kingston opened up about his condition and explained that while the situation was concerning at first, everything checked out fine. He said,
“I feel good. I feel very good, honestly. I have training later tonight. I feel good. I know people were concerned because I had to be pulled from the Continental Cup, which hurt me because I don’t like Claudio and it would’ve been great to smack him around a little bit, but I feel 1,000 times better. It was a little bit of a scare with my health. I got checked; everything is good, and I got cleared. Once I was cleared, it was, ‘Alright, let’s get to work.’ I’ve been dying to get back to work.”
Kingston will now shift his attention toward a major championship opportunity in CMLL.
He is scheduled to challenge Hechicero for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship on August 28.
