Drew McIntyre Says It’s “Not Easy As A Guy” To Discuss Mental Health

Two-time former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has said that it’s difficult for him as a man to discuss mental health.

McIntyre was released from WWE in 2014, which he admits in his autobiography led to a serious swing of depression in his life.

Speaking as part of WWE’s partnership with Ad Council’s Seize the Awkward campaign to raise awareness for mental health issues, McIntyre discussed his own struggles:

“When I was younger, I kept everything inside, it wasn’t healthy. It bubbled over, and affected my life. As soon as I was open and honest I was able to let everybody within my support group know how I was feeling, that built my mind back to where it needed to be. And I’ve had a few friends reach out and tell me they’re not in a good place, it’s not easy as a guy, especially, being open – and that’s true strength.”

The Scottish Superstar will team with RAW Tag Team Champions RK-Bro to face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos at WrestleMania: Backlash.

Earlier this week, AEW’s The Bunny discussed her own struggle with mental health.
