Baron Corbin made his surprise return to WWE on the July 10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, ending his time away from the company by interrupting the singles match between Carmelo Hayes and United States Champion Trick Williams.
Before heading back to WWE, Corbin — who had been wrestling under the name Bishop Dyer — was part of MLW, where he teamed with Donovan Dijak as The Skyscrapers. The pair captured the MLW World Tag Team Championships, but Corbin vacated his share of the titles upon rejoining WWE.
Speaking on a recent edition of the “Off The Ropes” podcast, Dijak addressed Corbin’s return to WWE and reflected on his tag team partner moving on after their successful run together. While Corbin is now back on the WWE roster, Dijak remains active outside the company following the end of their partnership in MLW.
Dijak’s comments mark the first time he has publicly discussed Corbin’s WWE comeback since the former tag champion made his surprise return on SmackDown. He said,
“Well so, it’s interesting that you bring that up because I haven’t found out that he’s not going to be with MLW any longer. I mean, that is still completely up in the air. I don’t control the contracts of companies and who can appear when and why and what. Right now, the last we left it on episodic MLW FUSION television is that there’s a contract dispute and that’s where it’s been left. Obviously, he popped up as Baron Corbin on WWE but that’s not to say that can’t reappear on MLW television. Anything’s possible, especially in that universe. They’re cloning people, they’re cursing people. There’s pyro and stuff going off. There’s all sorts of crazy stuff happening so, it’s the wild west out there. You never know who’s gonna pop up. Sometimes, Dolph Ziggler pops up on WWE television. You never know what’s gonna happen.”
Dijak is now holding the MLW World Tag Team Titles with Josh Bishop, who is taking Corbin’s spot.
