Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jake Hager suffered a serious eye injury during his Power Slap 23 bout against Johnny Magna, and the extent of the injury has now become clearer.

Hager was making his second appearance in Power Slap when the third slap from Magna resulted in the former WWE star bleeding from his left eye and ear. The cageside doctor immediately stopped the contest, with Hager requiring additional medical treatment following the bout.

The severity and unusual nature of the injury reportedly caught the attention of the medical staff. During Nina Drama’s stream, UFC and Power Slap CEO Dana White offered a concerning update on Hager’s condition and revealed just how serious the situation appeared to be. He said,

“Not good. That’s probably the worst injury we’ve had in the UFC, in Power Slap, anything,” White said.

“It looks like his tear duct ruptured. Something like that. Something crazy.”

“I wouldn’t even let our guys replay it. Nobody needs to see that.”

Hager has since undergone emergency eye surgery, according to fellow Power Slap competitor Patricia Blackburn. She revealed that Hager is now recovering while his team has chosen to keep the specific details surrounding his injury private. She said,

“Thank you to the UFC and Power Slap family for the incredible love and support you’ve shown Jake during this difficult time.

Jake is currently recovering from an emergency eye surgery. We’re taking things one day at a time and keeping the details private, but your kindness, support, and genuine concern have meant more than you know.

Thank you for being there for Jake. We’re so grateful to be part of a community that shows up when it matters most.”
