Backstage Update On Hangman Page Match At AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door

Hangman Adam Page challenged Kazuchika Okada for an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match last night on AEW Dynamite. While it looked like it was a possibility, it seems like the match won’t take place at the show. It’s now reported that the match isn’t listed internally and that the proposed internal list may be fake.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the internal sheet for the upcoming Forbidden Door PPV is being kept secret. The original lineup he had seen might be a fake, and Page was never scheduled to get the match against Okada. AEW confirmed two matches for show, including the AEW Interim World Championship match and the fatal-four-way match to determine the first-ever All-Atlantic champion.

If this news is accurate, this does open up the possibility of Okada losing his title to Jay White this weekend at NJPW Dominion. Adam Cole also made a case for himself to be Okada’s opponent at Forbidden Door last night on Dynamite. It remains to be seen whether either Page or Cole will face Okada at the PPV.
