Backstage Update On Asuka’s Status With WWE

Despite ongoing speculation, Asuka has not returned to WWE and remains inactive.

The former Women’s Champion and Royal Rumble winner has been sidelined since early May 2024, following the loss of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Fightful Select is reporting that Asuka is still not medically cleared to compete.

At the time of her injury, WWE reportedly anticipated that she would be out for the remainder of 2024 and potentially miss WrestleMania 41 in 2025. When asked about her status during WrestleMania season, it was said that there were no significant creative plans involving her, as she continued her recovery.

Interestingly, there were some creative discussions about Asuka’s eventual return earlier this year. However, it was made clear that a return was not considered imminent. One source even expressed surprise that ideas for her comeback were being discussed so early, given the low likelihood of her being cleared in time for WrestleMania.
