While Andrade originally signed a two-year deal with AEW in 2021, he had more time added on due to his layoff time due to injury.

As a result, AEW ended up extending his deal through the end of 2023.

According to several AEW talents, Andrade would speak openly about his contract status, and that his deal was set to expire in or around the end of 2023.

Several wrestlers also noted that Andrade had mentioned his plans to stay in AEW and consider another contract, but by the end of the deal, he was already eyeing a potential return to WWE.

Andrade is said to have informed AEW that he was finishing up with the promotion just days before Worlds End 2023.

Several people in AEW reportedly expected Andrade to appear on WWE TV the week after he parted ways with Tony Khan’s promotion.

In the event Andrade signed a new WWE contract, he has yet to make an appearance.

While Khan left the door open for Andrade to return, several people who worked around the former WWE United States Champion called it a “frustrating process.”

Additionally, Charlotte Flair has reportedly pushed Andrade to return to WWE. At the same time, Andrade is said to have pushed for his father-in-law Ric Flair to join AEW.

While WWE sources would not confirm Andrade’s return, others have admitted that he is likely to join the Endeavor-owned promotion soon.

Andrade previously left WWE in March 2021 after requesting his release. He later made his AEW debut in June of that year.
