Backstage Reaction To WWE Interim Women’s Title Revealed

WWE’s choice to keep Rhea Ripley as Women’s Champion while creating an Interim Women’s Title for SummerSlam has caused plenty of debate among fans online, but backstage the situation is much calmer.

During a Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp said he has not heard any negative reaction from the locker room, adding that there has been no eye-rolling or pushback over the decision.

Sapp explained that wrestlers see this as WWE trying a new way to handle a champion sidelined by injury. Even though fans often joke about such moves, the roster has responded positively, especially the women booked in the match.

WWE will crown its Interim Women’s Champion in a Five-Way ladder match at SummerSlam: Night Two, featuring Tiffany Stratton, Jade Cargill, Chelsea Green, Charlotte Flair and Lash Legend. This setup lets Ripley keep her reign intact while she recovers, and sets up a future title showdown once she returns to reclaim her spot.
