Backstage News On The Finish Of R-Truth vs. Damian Priest

R-Truth has addressed fans following a frightening moment during his match against Damian Priest on the October 16 episode of WWE SmackDown, which ended in a referee stoppage after the veteran appeared to suffer a legitimate injury.

The match was brought to an abrupt halt when Truth attempted a top-rope dropkick but was unable to get back to his feet. The referee immediately checked on him before calling for the bell, bringing the contest to an early end.

According to a report from Bryan Alvarez, Priest quickly recognized that something was wrong and made the decision to finish the match early to ensure Truth received the necessary attention. He said,

“As you can see from the videos floating around, Damian Priest made the call to take the Truth match home the moment he realized Truth was hurt. Did a hell of a job staying in character.”

Following the stoppage, Priest picked up a steel chair, but Nathan Frazer and Axiom intervened to make the save as the situation continued to unfold on screen.

Truth later took to social media to address the incident, sharing a photograph of himself near an MRI machine. Remaining in character despite the concern surrounding his condition, Truth thanked fans for their support while delivering a dramatic account of what happened. He wrote,

“I AM OK, Thank you ALL for your support, concerns and get well wishes , Wow, It truly feels amazing to feel and be loved I’m grateful for you all. …On 10/16/2026 I almost passed away… Damien Priest tried to kill me,, I didn’t think he was ThAt serious… But ok, l’ll be back.”
