CM Punk has never been far from controversy, and his outspoken personality has long been part of what makes him one of wrestling’s most polarizing stars. The Undisputed WWE Champion is known for speaking his mind without apology, a trait that has earned him both loyal supporters and plenty of criticism throughout his career.

His history includes several well-publicized incidents, from backstage conflicts during his first WWE run to the altercation in AEW that ultimately led to his contract being terminated. More recently, Punk drew attention during WrestleMania weekend after taking a phone from a fan who attempted to get too close while trying to photograph him alongside AJ Lee and Bayley.

Now, another interaction with fans has sparked discussion online.

Following WWE’s recent live event in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Punk returned to his hotel after teaming with Cody Rhodes to face off against GUNTHER and Ricky Saints. According to a woman who later shared her experience on social media, she and her two sons were waiting outside the hotel in hopes of getting a photo or autograph from the champion.

The woman claimed that Punk walked past without acknowledging them, leaving the children disappointed. She later uploaded a video (since deleted on a private account) describing the encounter, saying that her sons were upset and adding that “you should never meet your heroes.”

Punk has consistently maintained that he prefers not to interact with fans outside of official WWE appearances. Over the years, he has repeatedly stated that airports, hotels, and other private settings are not places where he feels obligated to sign autographs or pose for photos, making his stance on these types of encounters well known.

The mother of the children later responded with the following,

“We did not stalk him or invade his space. We arrived at the hotel at the same time as some of the wrestlers. A little smile or wave would have been nice, but instead, he totally ignored the boys and walked past them after the boys acknowledged him. No pasa nada.”
