Kendo Nagasaki, a legend of the British wrestling scene, hopes to become the oldest wrestler in history by returning to the ring this month.

Nagasaki hasn’t wrestled since 2008 but will lace up his boots for his 83rd birthday in a match that’ll mark the 60th anniversary of his debut.

Speaking to The Sun tabloid, Nagasaki wasn’t worried about his age being a factor in his upcoming match. He said,

“I’m as fit as a butcher’s dog. I still train every day, eat well and look after myself. I’m not worried. Nobody can hurt me. I’m a dinosaur with teeth. I’ve kept the training up over the years. Of course, some people are special. It’s genetics. There’s not many 82-year-olds taking on a fight like me, so I am special.”

Nagasaki made an appearance at LDN Wrestling earlier this year, teasing a bout with Sanjay Bagga and has said the match will make him the official oldest wrestler.

Nagasaki was billed as from Asia but is actually Englishman Peter Thornley and became a legendary name on the UK’s World of Sport show.

Other notable names from the time include Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks, the latter of whom had a brief run in WCW as Loch Ness.
