WWE icon John Cena believes he is on the same level as Spongebob Squarepants when it comes to being used as a meme on social media.

Cena has spawned many memes over his career from fans not being able to see him in images to the ‘Are you sure about that’ GIF that’s been shared countless times.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Cena discussed his notoriety as a meme and compared himself to the Bikini Bottom resident. He said,

“I think between SpongeBob and myself, we provide the meme universe with full ammunition clips any day, all day. So the fact that SpongeBob’s talked about on social media about every four seconds and he’s responsible for his fair share amount of memes, I think I’m right up there with him.”

This coming January, Cena will kick off his retirement tour and will return to WWE programming on the first episode of RAW on Netflix.

Several Superstars have put themselves forward as opponents on Cena’s farewell tour, including Bron Breakker, The Miz, and Randy Orton.
