At Saturday’s NJPW, Sakura Genesis, Mercedes Mone successfully defended the IWGP Women’s Championship when she beat Hazuki and STARDOM’s High-Speed Champion AZM in a three-way match.
She did so when she hit Mone Maker to AZM. Post-match, STARDOM’s “Icon” Mayu Iwatani came out to have a showdown with Mone, leading to the announcement of a match between them at STARDOM’s All Star Grand Queendom on April 23.
Iwatani previously lost to KAIRI in the main event of Historic X-Over, marking KAIRI as the first-ever IWGP Women’s Champion.
