Cherry has not stepped inside a wrestling ring in nearly 20 years, but the former WWE star remains interested in making a surprise comeback if the right opportunity ever comes along.
The former SmackDown talent last wrestled in 2008, with her final WWE match taking place on the August 5 episode of SmackDown. Cherry teamed up with Maria and Michelle McCool on that occasion, but the trio was defeated by Maryse, Natalya and Victoria.
Despite being away from in-ring competition for so long, Cherry revealed that she would be more than willing to bring back her character for a potential appearance in the Women’s Royal Rumble.
During a recent appearance on the “Rewind Recap Relive” podcast, Cherry was asked whether fans could someday see her return as a surprise entrant in the annual match. She said,
“I would love that. I would love that.”
“I don’t know. I wasn’t there that long, so I think that works against me. And then now that there’s NXT and all of these people and veterans, it makes it harder for someone like me. I mean, I would love it. I’m open to it.”
“And I think that they’re shooting more for keeping the contracted talent on the Rumbles now. I mean, it was a little bit more of an opportunity when they first brought the Rumble in for the women. But now they have so many people signed that, um, using who they’re contracted for.”
“And I, you know, I hate to say that, but I mean, I wasn’t really there that long, even though I feel like we had a memorable team. It would be great. I’m open to it. Fully open to it.”
