Samantha Irvin parted ways with WWE in 2024 after spending years with the company as a ring announcer, a role in which she excelled.
Irvin was often praised for her calls, with some talent, including GUNTHER and Chelsea Green, receiving introductions tailored to them.
On a recent edition of his “Devon & The Duke” podcast, D-Von Dudley believes WWE missed a golden opportunity when it comes to Irvin. He said,
“She’s an incredible talent and, you know, damn, I wish WWE could have did something with her.”
Irvin left WWE to pursue other ventures, and later admitted that, while she enjoyed announcing, she always aspired to do more in WWE.
She had hoped that her role would lead to a manager or a GM role, but after realizing that WWE never saw her as more than an announcer, chose to leave.
On his podcast, D-Von respected Irvin for being willing to walk away from the wrestling juggernaut to pursue her own goals. He said,
“What I’ve got so much respect for, is she left WWE. She left the machine to go out there and pursue it without them. And I say that because a lot of people can’t do that. They leave that machine, they fail.
“I understand that they wanted her to just do the ring announcing and stuff, but clearly she is far more than just a ring announcer. Come on. New owners, figure it out. TKO.”
Irvin has since returned to her background in music, including recording and releasing new tracks. She is a singer and trained flautist.
Irvin will be free to pursue wrestling work in October 2026. In April, she shared that she had six months left on an unprecedented two-year non-compete clause with WWE.
Her husband Ricochet is currently in WWE, leaving some to speculate that Samantha will join AEW as a manager when the opportunity arises.
