Brock Rechsteiner’s NFL journey has already taken an unexpected turn, but that doesn’t appear to have changed WWE’s interest in the son of Scott Steiner.
Rechsteiner, who has impressed since signing with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent, was recently handed a six-game suspension. Despite the setback, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound wide receiver remains focused on seeing how far he can go in the NFL.
However, Rechsteiner has also been open about his interest in pursuing professional wrestling once his football career comes to an end. Given his family background, WWE has apparently been paying close attention.
According to a report from Fightful Select, a WWE higher-up was already discussing the possibility of bringing Rechsteiner into the company shortly after he signed with the Saints. The official indicated that his six-game suspension would likely have little, if any, impact on WWE’s interest.
In fact, the WWE higher-up believes there is a “99.9 percent chance” that Rechsteiner receives an offer from WWE once his NFL career is over.
WWE has reportedly been monitoring Rechsteiner throughout his college career, with the company hearing positive things about him along the way. The belief within WWE is that he would not need to go through a traditional tryout process.
Instead, WWE reportedly expects to sign Rechsteiner outright when the time comes.
Rechsteiner, who is the cousin of WWE Superstar Bron Breakker and the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner, has also communicated to WWE that he would be interested in making the jump to professional wrestling when his NFL career eventually comes to an end.
