During AEW Grand Slam: Mexico, Andrade squared off against Komander and Tommaso Ciampa in a high-stakes Triple Threat Match. With the winner earning the No. 1 entry in the Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW All In: London, all three competitors had plenty on the line.
After a fast-paced and hard-fought battle, Andrade picked up the win. El Idolo sealed the win by hitting Komander with his DM finisher before scoring the three-count.
With the victory, Andrade secures the coveted first entry spot in the Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW All In London, giving him a major opportunity heading into the company’s biggest events of the year.
MJF has officially returned to AEW television.
As noted above, Andrade El Idolo punched his ticket to AEW All In: London by defeating Komander to secure the No. 1 entry in the Casino Gauntlet Match. However, Andrade’s celebration was cut short when the former AEW World Champion made his surprise return.
MJF stormed the ring and attacked Andrade from behind, leaving him laid out before sending him to the back. With the crowd reacting to his return, Friedman grabbed a microphone and wasted no time reminding everyone how highly he thinks of himself.
Calling himself “an American hero” and “the best professional wrestler in the world,” MJF also continued to carry around his custom AEW World Championship. Although he lost the official title in July, he insisted that his version of the belt represents the “real” AEW World Championship and declared himself the company’s one true champion.
Before wrapping up the segment, MJF revealed his next objective. He announced that he will compete on the August 12 edition of AEW Dynamite for the No. 2 entry in the Casino Gauntlet Match, putting himself on a potential collision course with Andrade at AEW All In: London.
