A WWE star is taking credit for Spain’s 2026 FIFA World Cup triumph — and, in true Danhausen fashion, he’s making quite the case for it.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup concluded with Spain capturing its first World Title since 2010, defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final. Ferran Torres scored the game’s only goal, while Rodri captained Spain alongside teenage superstar Lamine Yamal in the historic victory.
The match also generated headlines away from the pitch. Donald Trump attended the final and joined FIFA President Gianni Infantino in presenting the trophy to Spain captain Rodrigo. A viral video circulating online showed Trump refusing to leave and remaining on the stage during Spain’s celebrations before appearing to be encouraged to step aside, sparking widespread discussion across social media.
Now, WWE’s Danhausen is jokingly claiming that he deserves some of the credit for Spain’s victory.
The self-proclaimed “Very Nice, Very Evil” star has built a reputation around his comedic “curses,” with fans linking them to a variety of unlikely outcomes. Danhausen has previously joked about “uncursing” the New York Knicks before their championship run, while also directing his fictional curses toward stars such as Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan, The Miz, and Kit Wilson.
Ahead of the World Cup Final, Danhausen was filmed during a fan meet-and-greet placing one of his trademark “curses” on Argentina. After Spain went on to win the match, the clip quickly spread across social media.
Embracing the joke, Danhausen explained that he had now “won” the NBA, NHL, and FIFA World Cup all in the same year, with fans continuing to fuel the viral gag online.
