Charlotte Flair was unable to save Alexa Bliss after a post-match assault by Jade Cargill on WWE SmackDown.
Bliss came out aggressively against Cargill, using her speed to stay one step ahead during the opening minutes of the match. She strung together several impressive offensive sequences and nearly scored a huge moment when she attempted to hit Sister Abigail, but Cargill escaped before Bliss could connect.
The action spilled into chaos at ringside when Charlotte Flair, Michin, and B-Fab became involved. Flair tried to get close enough to support Bliss, but Michin and B-Fab cut her off, preventing her from interfering.
With Bliss distracted by the commotion outside the ring, Cargill capitalized by drilling her with a massive pump kick before finishing the match with Jaded to score the pinfall victory.
However, the attack didn’t end with the bell.
Flair rushed into the ring to check on Bliss, but Michin and B-Fab once again held her back. That gave Cargill the opportunity to continue the assault.
Cargill trapped Bliss’ arm inside a steel chair, deliberately hyperextended her elbow, and then drove the chair into the mat. Bliss screamed in pain while Flair could only watch from the corner, unable to help. After Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab finally left the ring, Flair was able to reach her fallen ally.
The post-match angle appeared to be designed to write Bliss off television for the time being.
It’s worth noting that Bliss is double-jointed in her elbows, meaning that she has hypermobile joints that naturally allow her arms to extend beyond the typical range of motion, making the attack appear even more disturbing than it actually was.
