Jeff Cobb has officially been given a new ring name in WWE.

Although commentary referred to him as Jeff Cobb during his debut at WWE Backlash 2025, his new WWE name was revealed on this week’s episode of SmackDown.

In the opening segment, Solo Sikoa introduced him as “JC,” and a subsequent WWE YouTube upload confirmed his full name as JC Mateo.

WWE had already filed a trademark for the name “JC Mateo” on May 10 — the same night as Cobb’s debut.

During the same segment, JC Mateo was attacked by LA Knight, retaliating for Mateo’s interference at Backlash, where he helped Jacob Fatu retain the WWE United States Championship.
