In 2004, Shelton Benjamin was part of an infamous segment with Trish Stratus during which the Canadian nearly dropped her towel in front of him.
The segment ended with Stratus in the arms of Mr. McMahon and was a parody of an NFL segment with Terrell Owens and Desperate Housewives’ Nicolette Sheridan.
On a recent video from Maven’s YouTube channel, Shelton recalled being jealous at the time WWE finished filming the segment. He said,
“I was jealous. I’m like ‘Oh, she gets to jump in his arms, but not mine?”
Shelton added that he thought the segment was a rehearsal and was unaware that the segment was being aired live on WWE RAW, despite hearing the crowd react.
Benjamin was in his first reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion at the time while Stratus had recently lost the WWE Women’s Title to Lita.
